Extracted stone aggregates are unloaded at Mesaieed Port on to Arabian Quarries Co. road vehicles and transported, then off-loaded, within the Company stock-piling facility which provides storage space in close proximity to the Port. Precautions are taken to avoid contamination of the aggregates by constituents which could react harmfully with the cement, reduce bond with the aggregate, cause staining or other deleterious effects.
Every effort is made to ensure shape, texture and degree of hardness are entirely suitable to promote grading of the aggregates so that particles interlock, leaving minimum voids, that they can flow together readily providing workability and enabling a lower water/cement ratio to be used. Various types and sizes of aggregates are kept separately.
These measures collectively represent due care and attention to detail which may ensure the materials are in the best possible condition having all the expected, typical characteristics required. The company was formed primarily to provide a reliable source of aggregates to Gulf Ready Mix facilities and enlarged to include sufficient materials to supply others within the market.

Company Profile
Qatar Quarry Co. is a Joint Venture Company between Lafarge of France and local partner HE Shk. Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Thani, which has been in operation in Qatar since 1983.
Two main quarries are in operation in Simsimah area within 25 Kms. from Ras Laffan producing materials for unbound pavement, shoreline protection, breakwaters, berths, cable/pipe surround etc. The combined production between the two quarries is in excess of 20 million tonnes/year.
Since 1993 the company has also been involved in the importation of gabbro/imported limestone aggregates for supply to the Qatar market. Currently over 1,000,000 tonnes per year is being transported by sea, this figure is expected to increase in the coming years.
QQC is currently involved in material supplies for the following major projects :
New Doha International Airport – Airfield Paving : 3,500,000 tonnes
Qatar Gas – II LNG Plant & Tanks : 1,000,000 tonnes
Ras Laffan Port Expansion Project : 29,000,000 tonnes
Shell GTL Project : 500,000 tonnes
Our present operation has a labour force of 600 people with 6 European Supervisors. Currently we are quarrying 20 million tonnes of rock per annum.
To control the Quality of our product, we have established our own fully equipped Laboratory at the Simsimah Quarry. This Laboratory is capable of carrying out a full range of tests to both European & American Standards.
Qatar Quarry Co. received ISO 9002:1994 quality management certification in 1997, which was later upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 standard

About Gabbro Suppliers
Gabbro refers to a big group of dark, coarse-grained, disturbing mafic igneous rocks chemically equal to basalt. The rocks are plutonic, shape when molten magma is attentive under the Earth's surface and cools into a crystalline accumulation.
The vast majority of the Earth's exterior is underlain by gabbro in the marine crust, shaped by basalt magmatism at mid-ocean crests.
Gabbro is thick, greenish or dark-colored and includes pyroxene, amphibole, plagioclase and olivine.
The pyroxene is mainly clinopyroxene; diminutive amounts of orthopyroxene may be at hand. If the amount of orthopyroxene is considerably greater than the amount of clinopyroxene, the rock is after that a norite. Quartz gabbros are also recognized to happen and are perhaps derived from magma that was over-saturated with silica. Essexites indicate gabbros whose parent magma was under-saturated with silica, ensuing in the arrangement of the feldspathoid mineral nepheline.
